Marvel’s The Avengers not only ruled the summer box office but became one of the biggest movies ever. And why wouldn’t it be? It was the first time superheroes from different movies came together under one title. It didn’t hurt that the cast was full of charismatic actors who clearly had a lot of chemistry together. Then there’s writer and director Joss Whedon, who spearheaded the project.

Wild Spending on The Lone Ranger

By |2024-12-04T17:10:59-08:00June 14th, 2012|

The Lone Ranger has been having its share of troubles since filming began. Disney initially halted production due to the project going over budget. So the director, Gore Verbinski, agreed to cut scenes and his own pay; star Johnny Depp and producer Jerry Bruckheimer also agreed to cuts to bring the cost down.

So what’s the problem now?

Despite the adjustment, production is once again going over the budget. And that’s not the only problem. They’re supposedly weeks behind schedule. So Disney is again asking for Verbinski to cut more scenes to bring costs back down — and most likely to bring things back on schedule.

Rich Ross of Disney Resigns as Studio Chief

By |2012-10-01T18:22:08-08:00April 22nd, 2012|

Two and a half years ago Rich Ross became Studio Chief of Disney, with a purpose to restructure the studio to cut costs while developing new projects. Unfortunately the marketing for the big budget film John Carter caused a massive loss for the studio. Due to this, Ross is stepping down as the Studio Chief. Rather than going down in flames, Ross bowed out gracefully, leaving a memo to Disney staff:

Tron: Uprising Animated Series Update

By |2024-12-04T17:12:16-08:00December 24th, 2010|

Disney pushes forward with its animated series Tron: Uprising. The show begins in the summer of 2012, with a voice cast comprising of Bruce Boxleitner, Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Paul Reubens, Lance Henriksen and Nate Corddry.

Wood stars as the character named Beck, who leads an uprising in the Grid. Joining him will be Boxleitner reprising his role as Tron.

The series will take place between the time CLU takes over the Grid to when Sam enters to look for his father.

At first the timeline is surprising; with the thought that time between the original Tron and the second film would make sense for a series, but time in the Grid is different than the real world. There’s a lot to cover between CLU’s take over and Sam’s entry into the Grid.

Adam Horowitz, the co-screenwriter of Tron: Legacy and consulting producer for the series had this to say:

“Our intention is to try and make something that is more than just, let’s go get something. We treat TRON very, very seriously and as writers we try to have a reason and a world for everything and not all of it gets to be shown because in this particular movie, we only had two hours.

[So] hopefully it fills in the blanks in and in a fun way and an intriguing way.”

There’s massive potential in Tron: Uprising in its stellar cast and crew. After all, even Charlie Bean of Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack is involved.
