Mr. and Mrs. Smith only came out in 2005, but Regency Enterprises is already moving forward with rebooting the film. Akiva Goldsman is set to produce.

Apparently a reason for rebooting the movie is to keep the name-brand while casting new actors who aren’t as expensive as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I know I condoned a few reboots which I felt were necessary, but is this one necessary? This seems a lot more like the studio just wants to cut huge corners to make a quick buck. I guess now is a good time to say that reboots are the new sequels?
