Marvel’sĀ Agents of SHIELD panel at Comic-Con was bittersweet. It moved from Ballroom 20 to the much larger Hall H — but before the panel, it was announced that season seven would be the last. In triumph, they were ending the series on their terms; a rarity for television shows.
Iron ManĀ teased the idea of a larger movie universe with Agent Coulson mentioning S.H.I.E.L.D. Then the end credits drove it home with Director Nick Fury schooling Tony Stark on not being the only one doing heroics. I flipped out. It was the first time a comic book movie went there; that there’s more out there and that weĀ willĀ see more heroes in the same movie universe.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is easily up there as one of my favorite movies. The film drew emotions out of me; joy, laughter, and sorrow. It was an emotional rollercoaster for me and I enjoyed every second of it.
I was a Batman fan as far back as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is playing with a toy Batmobile. The most rewatched movie for me was the Michael Keaton Batman movie when it was released on VHS. I was only four at the time, so this meant that I had to close my eyes during a particular scene where a mobster was burnt to a crisp. Oddly, I was allowed to look after the act, so I still saw the burnt corpse. My imagination filled in the blanks with something far more terrifying.
This is veering towards another story that I will have tell at another time.
I can’t say I’m a fan of the solo Wolverine movies, especially X-Men Origins: Wolverine. That one was an abomination. But that’s besides the point. The upcoming third one, simply entitled Logan, had a trailer drop just the other day.
Yesterday was the third and final presidential debate, where we all hatefully yelled at the TV while negativity came out of the TV speakers. But hey, there was one silver-lining. One sliver of hope. A beacon of light that brings smile and joy on the faces of the masses. Director and writer James Gunn released a little teaser for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
