Supernatural is approaching its actual swan song with the series finale not far away — well, sort of. It isn’t actually filmed yet because of obvious reasons. But filming is recently underway to finish off the finale seasons. After that, God’s favorite brothers are finally reaching the end of their road.

It’s been known for awhile now that Jared Padelecki will star in the Walker: Texas Ranger reboot on the CW. And now, we know that Jensen Ackles will get his turn to have superpowers as he finds his way onto the cast of The Boys on Amazon Prime. Which, of course, is spearheaded by Supernatural creator, Eric Kripke. He also had a lovely statement about Ackles’ casting:

“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother.”

-Eric Kripke

Ackles will portray Soldier Boy, the first superhero in The Boys universe. I can’t say I know who that is, since I never actually read the comic book, because I’m a terrible person — and I enjoy the show so much that I actively try to stay away from spoilers. But from my basic understanding of the character, he’s basically like Captain America, but riddled with the usual character flaws seen on the show. In other words: he’s a twisted version of Cap.

Honestly though, I’d be excited if Ackles just played an intern on the show.

Don’t get too excited though. Remember, it’s season 3 that he will hit the scene. Season 2 is about to come out. By which I mean, you should get excited. Because season 2 is about to come out and this show is fantastic.
