pacificrimWhat did you think of director Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim? I loved it. It was a really fun monster versus mech movie. The cinematography was gorgeous; in usual del Toro fashion. It spoke to me on a deep level. The child in me. That one who loved Ultra Man all the way to — dare I say it — Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad. So hearing that Pacific Rim 2 is moving forward is fantastic news to me.

Unfortunately, del Toro is not directing the sequel. Fortunately, Steven S. DeKnight is.

What do you mean you don’t know who DeKnight is?

DeKnight was behind the incredible Netflix series: Marvel’s Daredevil. That alone shows how strong of a director he is. As long as he adapts some of del Toro’s cinematography, I’ll be happy. Well, that and remembers to make it fun. I want more ridiculous battles. And I want them to build another wall — what? It’s topical.

Most of the surviving characters will return in the sequel that takes place years after the events in the first film; namely Charlie Hunnam’s and Charlie Day’s characters. I would support Pacific Rim casting Charlies much like Marvel casting Chris’s.
