Filming for the remake of Total Recall starts this Monday, and more casting news has trickled in. Joining star Colin Farrell are Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel and Bill Nighy.

Taking inspiration from both the original movie and Philip K. Dick’s novella We Can Remember It for You Wholesale, the new film will focus on factory worker Douglas Quaid, who purchases implanted memories. Believing himself to be a spy, Quaid becomes confused if he works for Euromerica or New Shanghai.

Kate Beckinsale will play Douglas Quaid’s wife in the “real world”, Lori. So there’s a good chance that she’ll end up in shootouts and beating up a certain somebody in the film.

Jessica Biel will portray the woman Douglas meets in his life as a spy, Melina. And that certainly means that Biel will take part in the violence that will play out in the movie.

Bill Nighy rounds out the cast as the leader of the resistance, Quatto. Though, now the question is: What resistance? After all, the premise deals with the two warring nations.

I just have to add that Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad will play the antagonistic leader of Euromerica Vilos Cohaagen, who wants to invade New Shanghai.

Total Recall is set for release August 3, 2012.
