Entertainment Weekly released photos from Captain America: The First Avenger. I’m digging the costume. And seeing the original shield was an awesome surprise.

Third Batman Film Gets Title
Director Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film has been given a title: The Dark Knight Rises. It’s underwhelming. The Dark Knight Returns would’ve gotten backlash from comic book fans since Nolan is intent on keeping Batman and Superman in separate movie universes. But there’s other titles that have potential.Batman fell as a hero in the eyes of the public in the last film. The police no longer collaborate with him, and he’s wanted for murders he didn’t commit. A more relevant choice would’ve been Shadow of the Bat.
Chris Nolan went on to debunk rumors that the Riddler would be in the film. My choice at this point would be Black Mask. For those who don’t know: Black Mask is Roman Sionis, a man born in wealth who burned down his family’s mansion and killing his parents in the process. Years later Sionis became Black Mask due to the anger and humiliation of Bruce Wayne saving and taking over his failing company. As Black Mask, he forms the False Face Society, who gain power in the Gotham underworld.
Who better than Tom Hardy, who recently joined the cast? No, really. Hardy would be excellent in the role of Black Mask.

ACME Gets Movie
Brothers Kevin and Dan Hageman have recently pitched the idea of a feature film revolving around the Looney Tunes’ fictional warehouse ACME.Oddly, Looney Tunes characters — including the notable Wile E. Coyote — wouldn’t be in the film. It would be a live-action/CG film featuring ACME’s outrageous devices. Think Who Framed Roger Rabbit without the characters but with all the gear.
Jon Berg of Warner will produce with Mark Bauch of Lin Pictures co-producing.
It’s an odd concept, but it hasn’t been done before. I don’t expect it to be something adults will enjoy, but the kids will eat it up.

Neil Patrick Harris Directs Indie Film
Actor Neil Patrick Harris will be making his feature directing debut with the upcoming indie film Aaron and Sarah. It’s penned by Chad Gomez Creasey and Dara Resnik Creasey of Pushing Daisies. The premise is the development of a friendship between a geek and a popular girl throughout their years in high school together. It’s a relatively simple and straightforward plot.
Josh Hutcherson and Emma Roberts are attached in the lead roles.
I wouldn’t show much interest in this indie film, but Neil Patrick Harris is a very charismatic and comedic actor — and who knows? His style just might translate brilliantly in the director seat.

Disney Buys Distribution Rights to Marvel Films
Disney is making good on its investment on Marvel and has bought the distribution deals to the final two films in Paramount’s six-picture deal with Marvel Studios.
Paramount has kept its distribution and marketing rights for Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor; Disney has attained distribution and marketing for The Avengers and Iron Man 3 for $115 million.
So yes, that solidifies that there will be an Iron Man 3 — and that Disney means business. Marvel Studios’ current superheroes (sans X-Men and Spider-Man) will be under one roof which will work perfectly for the planned under-one-universe for the films.
Gotta drive it home again: their relationship is beautiful.

Rhys Ifans as Dr. Connors in Spider-Man Reboot
More news on Sony’s new Spider-Man film has been released. Actor Rhys Ifans has been cast in the part of Dr. Curt Connors; a sympathetic character whose alter-ego is The Lizard. For those not in the know: Dr. Connors is a surgeon and research technologist who lost his arm in a war he was sent off to. After he returned to civilian life, he became obsessive with limb regeneration and the biology of reptiles. He went on to develop a serum that he consumed; it successfully regrew his arm, but eventually developed a side effect that transformed him into a reptilian humanoid with a penchant for violence.
It’s not yet known if Dr. Connors will become The Lizard in the new Spider-Man movie, but it would be an excellent decision. Dr. Connors is someone Peter Parker looks up to; and he goes through a similar situation of an experiment going awry.
Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Marc Webb is directing.
The film begins production in December and will be released in theaters on July 3, 2012. And yes, it will be in 3D. Spider-Man web swinging in a city in 3D? It’s gonna be a trip.

Luc Besson Will Direct Sci-Fi Film
Director, writer, and producer Luc Besson has always been prolific in the film industry. Yet, he rarely helms the director seat. It’s recently been reported that Besson is working on a sci-fi film which is being compared to his movie The Fifth Element. He is, of course, set to direct.“With the advent of digital technology, it is amazing what you can do. The technique has caught the imagination. One can imagine anything, there will always technicians to follow you in your delusion.”
-Luc Besson
Pre-production begins in 2011 and production supposedly in 2012 and 2013. It’s planned to be a sci-fi epic.
Who isn’t excited for it? I’m a huge fan of The Fifth Element. Luc Besson back to directing a sci-fi film has massive potential. I’m very stoked for it. Now to learn patience.
