‘The Batman Part II’ Has Another Director Step

Director Matt Reeves’ The Batman quickly became my favorite live-action version of Batman. The tone had a dark detective noir feel, the city felt real, lived in, and in disrepair. And then you had Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Pattinson embodied the character perfectly. Clearly emotionally damaged from trauma, and unhinged rage that he can barely contain.

A second movie was highly anticipated, but there was a lot of slowdown going into pre-production. And Robert Pattinson felt like the first actor who both liked wearing the Batman suit and was vocally impatient about doing the next film. He evidently loves playing little freaks.

The Batman Part II has been underway with filming, but director Matt Reeves had to step away for a personal matter due to family. Rather than halting production, director Steven Soderbergh is stepping in to hep finish principal photography, with Reeves giving input whenever he can. The current plan is for Reeves to return for post-production.

Honestly, it seems like a solid plan. Things continue forward while Reeves takes the personal time that he needs. And it’s almost a flex having an Oscar-winning director in Soderbergh to come help out.
