HBO’s True Detective has received a lot of praise for its first season. It had stellar casting for one. The same is expected for the second. This time out, Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will portray two characters that take center stage.

The premise?

Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.

Farrell will play one of the cops, who will unfortunately be owned by the mob. But that’s not the only catch. His police department is also corrupt. That’s twice the fun!

Vaughn on the other hand, will play a career criminal who makes a move into a legitimate business. The catch for him is that a business partner is suddenly murdered.

Farrell is a perfect fit, I’d imagine. Vaughn seems like the odd one since I’m used to seeing him in comedies. But it isn’t hard seeing him work as the character he’s cast as.

More casting is still underway.

Justin Lin of the Fast and Furious franchise will direct the first two episodes. It’ll be great if he approaches it how he directed Better Luck Tomorrow — which you should watch. It’s an excellent movie.

Filming begins this fall. So soon. Really soon.

I really need to watch the first season, I admit. I only heard good things.
