Disney Buys Distribution Rights to Marvel Films

Disney is making good on its investment on Marvel and has bought the distribution deals to the final two films in Paramount’s six-picture deal with Marvel Studios.

Paramount has kept its distribution and marketing rights for Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor; Disney has attained distribution and marketing for The Avengers and Iron Man 3 for $115 million.

So yes, that solidifies that there will be an Iron Man 3 — and that Disney means business. Marvel Studios’ current superheroes (sans X-Men and Spider-Man) will be under one roof which will work perfectly for the planned under-one-universe for the films.

Gotta drive it home again: their relationship is beautiful.

Disney’s Gargoyles Project

Disney is acquiring Zoe Green to pen the story on a gargoyles feature that will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Jack Leslie. One of the only concrete details on the project is that it’ll be set during the modern times.

The impression the news gives off is that it’ll be an original story — which is odd to many people since Disney has produced the cartoon Gargoyles in the 90s. It’s a well-made show that would translate smoothly on the big screen. There’s a chance that it is the case, and if so, I’ll be stoked for it.

Tron: Legacy Will Be at Comic-Con

By |2024-12-04T17:12:54-08:00June 22nd, 2010|

Disney announced that their film Tron: Legacy will have a panel at Comic-Con with actors Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde, Garrett Hedlund, Bruce Boxleitner, and Michael Sheen at hand; along with director Joe Kosinski; with producers Sean Bailey and Steven Lisberger.  Patton Oswalt will moderate the panel. There’s also a rumor going around that the ones who did the music for the movie, Daft Punk, will be in attendance as surprise guests at the panel.

It will be the third year at Comic-Con for the upcoming movie. Last year at Comic-Con they released a teaser for the film and it was a huge hit with the audience. It’ll evidently be one of the most anticipated panels this year at the con; and the rumor of Daft Punk being there will only add to it.
