Test footage for Tim Burton’s former film Superman Lives released online by FX artist Steve Johnson. The video features a prototype of Superman’s costume, which relies on light effects. The suit deviates heavily from the usual, and the general assumption is that it’s the “eradicator” suit Superman dons after mortal injuries he sustains from a fight with Doomsday. It’s a kryptonian life support suit with an AI and weapons.
The design is an interesting concept, but doesn’t really suit Superman.
In an interview with NBC, Christian Bale sings the Powerpuff Girls theme song. Mark Wahlberg then sings The Touch by Stan Bush. What else is there to say? It’s really amusing.
Action star Vin Diesel released the new trailer for the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise entitled Fast Five on his Facebook. Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang reprise their roles, with Dwayne Johnson joining the cast. Justin Lin returns to direct.

Created and written by Matthew Carnahan (Dirt) comes dark comedy House of Lies starring Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2). The half-hour show is based on the book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn.
Cheadle will portray management consultant Marty, whose self-loathe doesn’t stop him from acquiring information for his clients by any means necessary.

What’s this? Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides trailer? The fourth film seems to tone down from the epic mess that was At World’s End. Hopefully it’ll be just as fun as the first movie.
Guillermo del Toro spearheads a production company named Mirada with Mathew Cullen, Guillermo Navarro and Javier Jimenez. It’s based out of a 25,000-square-foot studio in Marina del Rey, California; the same studio where key sequences from Blade Runner filmed.
Mirada encompasses a sound stage, animation, post and visual effects, an art department and a full camera shop.
“I hate to use this word, but it’s a boutique operation. We want to attract filmmakers and help them develop their ideas from the ground up. Not in a pipeline of production and not with a marketing view, but simply, how to build a story the best. That could be a short film, a feature film, a commercial, proof of concept — whatever it may be, you get all of us.”

Mirada is great news for filmmakers, and it’s a huge but smart endeavor for del Toro and co. They will help streamline and cultivate filmmaking; Mirada will make resources easier for filmmakers.

Guillermo del Toro always struck me as a passionate and earnest filmmaker, and this further proves that.
J.J. Abram’s new show Alcatraz moves forward with casting news: Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) is cast in a starring role. He’ll be joining Jorge Garcia (Lost) and Jonny Coyne, along with star Sarah Jones and Jason Butler Harner, who will be in a supporting role.
FBI agents are tracking down missing prisoners of Alcatraz, with Jones as a cop, and Neill as the head of a government agency.
Alcatraz piqued my interest when J.J. Abrams became producer, and more after Garcia being cast. I’m curious to see how Garcia’s new character portrayal will be as opposed to his role as Hugo on Lost.
With Sam Neill involved, it secures my interest in the upcoming pilot episode.
