For decades and decades, people have sat each other down to watch The Wizard of Oz; while playing Pink Floyd’s album, Dark Side of the Moon. On the third roar of the MGM lion, you hit play on the album, and the music almost perfectly syncs with the movie. It’s as if it were all on purpose.
The trailer for Hulu’s Interior Chinatown has come out recently — it stars Jimmy O. Yang as Willis Wu, along with Ronny Chieng, and Agents of SHIELD Chloe Bennet. The show’s creator and showrunner is Charles Yu, who wrote for various television shows — oh, and he’s also the author of Interior Chinatown. The director for the first episode is Taika Waititi, of fan-favorite Thor: Ragnorok and fan-hated Thor: Love and Thunder.
I wasn’t in the know until I saw Kaos pop up when I put on Netflix; and seeing Jeff Goldblum starring as Zeus was enough to more than pique my interest. It was a comedic modern take on Greek myths and it seemed to almost play out a Shakespeare play. Almost. (more…)
Lately I have been intrigued by the idea of films being shot strictly on phones. Normally, films shot on phones are shorts or music videos, mostly done for convenience and keeping within a small budget. But with the limitations comes a little bit of different thinking creatively. Then, there are filmmakers who decide from the start to shoot on phone cameras for an aesthetic.
It’s been a long while since I last shared some music. There’s a song that I’ve been obscenely obsessed with for a few years now. Everything from the instruments, the vocals, and the lyrics just hooked me in. Hopefully, it does the same for you, too.
I remember the excitement my friends and I felt when the first trailer dropped for the Power Rangers movie. We — just like all children — were huge fans of the show, and were surprised and gleefully throwing punches and kicks at imaginary putties. Not only was there an upcoming film, but it still starred the actors we know and love. (more…)
Admittedly, I was a little worried about the third Deadpool film. I thought I wouldn’t enjoy the story, or how it brought Hugh Jackman back to the role of Wolverine. Logan was an incredible sendoff and goodbye to Jackman’s 20-plus year portrayal of the character. Turns out I was pretty wrong being concerned.
There were a lot of copycats back when Power Rangers was new and at its peak. One such TV show was Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad. It starred Matthew Lawrence as Servo, a superhero who looked eerily similar to Ultraman.
