Over 500 filmmakers entered a Halloween film festival contest headed by Ripcord. The contestants were wittled down to 12 finalists, whose short films will screen on October 29, at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. The winners will be announced the next day, with the first prize being $100,000, the largest sum in a short film competition.
Ripcord is a genre film festival focused on horror, thriller, science fiction, and fantasy. On top of that, they offer a way to watch movies from independent filmmakers. Which means you can watch the movies I mentioned earlier on their website, ripcord.film.
I didn’t know about Ripcord — and that’s on me. The irony is that horror is one of my favorite genres, so how I didn’t know about them is beyond me. Maybe that is my real life horror.
Anyway! If you’re a fan of horror and independent movies, Ripcord is a treasure trove. Check it out.
