When I was young enough to be an only child, a movie that stuck with me was Tron, starring Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner. The vivid colors of blue and orange were etched into my mind. Especially blue, since it’s my favorite color.

But anyway!

In 2010, I had to share the film with a bunch of people who haven’t seen it before, because why not? Well, also because Tron: Legacy was about to hit with a midnight showing. The visuals and the music were equally etched into my mind; and the story captivated me. I thought Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde, and Garrett Hedlund were amazing in it. Ten years later and I still consider it one of my favorite films. So of course the thought of a third one was something I wanted. But sadly, that was not the case.

It’s been a decade since Tron: Legacy, and the director Joseph Kosinski spoke candidly about Tron; how fans clamored for another movie (I’m obviously one of them). He mentioned that the story and its setting is unique, and that he believes there is a future for the franchise; that there has to be a passion project, something that reaches for something different and innovative. Which makes sense, since that’s what it’s all about, at its core.

I hope one day Kosinski can revisit Tron, and have Hedlund and Wilde reprise their roles. And of course, bring Daft Punk to do the music again.
