A Glimpse into Director J.J. Abrams’ Thoughts on the Next ‘Star Wars’

starwarstheforceawakensStar Wars: The Force Awakens is dominating theaters everywhere. And we won’t have to wait too long for the next installment. The script was already finished by Rian Johnson, who will also direct the untitled Episode VIII film that’s due on May 26, 2017.

That gives us plenty of time to obsess over The Force Awakens.

In a recent interview, actor and friend of J.J. Abrams, Greg Grunberg, had some interesting words about Abrams’ reaction to Johnson’s screenplay:

“He read it and said something he never, ever says,” Grunberg, who plays pilot Snap Wexley in the new film, tells The Post’s Comic Riffs. “He said: ‘It’s so good, I wish I were making it.’

“He may have said something one time on Lost, with Damon [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][Lindelof, the co-creator],” continues Grunberg, whose credits on Abrams series include “Lost” and “Felicity,” “but I never hear him express regret like that.”

If that’s the case, that is very, very  promising news. I was already a fan of Rian Johnson’s work. Brick was very interesting, Looper was a fantastic time travel movie, and he directed some of the best episodes of Breaking Bad.
