I’m not surprised that Ben Affleck is slowly growing on me as Batman. We’re far from the release date of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but director Zack Snyder is sharing photos on his Twitter, and Affleck is sharing insight on his version of Batman.

This time it looks like we aren’t getting another growling, perpetually angry Batman. Affleck’s Batman (and Bruce Wayne for the matter) will have a more nuance anger behind the scowl. Affleck looked into his own issues with anger to form his version of the Caped Crusader.

“For me, anger is so deeply buried and contained that when it does kind of come out, it comes out in stronger bursts. I tend to be respectful, polite, get along, put up with, put up with, put up with … then, when it finally emerges, it’s not something I have a ton of control over. I’m not gonna go into a Wolverine berserker rage, but I do have a, I do … That is an interesting thing that you point out. That’s my personality … By the way, that’s a character flaw, I think. I should sit down and say, ‘Listen, I just want to let you know what happened there wasn’t OK’, instead of going, let it go, let it go, let it go … ‘Ah, that’s not a big deal’, until finally you just pop!”

It’s a character flaw that fits Batman; internalize the anger and try to harnass it until it becomes too much. I’m looking forward to Batman releasing that anger on Superman. All that power but not being used as how he would see fit.

There’s so much Bruce Wanye and Lex Luthor have in common when it comes to Superman — besides their wealth.
