Easter Egg in ‘Man of Steel’

manofsteelAllow me to preface with this: do not read any further if you don’t want to be spoiled on an easter egg in Man of Steel.

Spoilers ahead:

There’s speculation that the WB and DC would lay the groundwork down for Justice League — or at least a shared universe for their superheroes. It appears it just might be happening.

Director Zack Snyder said that in Man of Steel, a Wayne Enterprises satellite is destroyed by General Zod, the commanding antagonist of the film.

“The Wayne Enterprises logo is on a satellite that Zod destroys… I don’t know [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][about teaming up Superman/Batman in a sequel]. Everything is interesting at this point. And don’t forget that Lex is out there, doing who knows what.”

It’s easy to take it as the beginnings of a crossover, or it could simply be an easter egg for fans. Either way, it gives a sense of a shared universe.

Of course, we also know Christopher Nolan’s version of Batman was in a self-contained universe, so we won’t be seeing that Batman or Robin for the matter. Any appearances of Batman here on out would be a new incarnation.

Man of Steel hits theaters June 14. I cannot wait.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
