Robert Downey Jr. has found massive success with Marvel Studios and the Iron Man franchise. Makes sense since the man is the embodiment of Tony Stark — sans the suits of armor and alcoholism. Downey/Stark’s smartass ways is just too appealing. But no, it wasn’t Iron Man that I was going to talk write about.

There’s no stopping Downey, who likes to keep himself busy. He recently wrapped up Iron Man 3 and is quick at work with his wife Susan Downey to produce the film The Judge. Naturally, Robert Downey Jr. is in the lead role. Admit it, you wouldn’t have it any other way either.

The premise centers on a big shot attorney who returns to his hometown for his mother’s funeral. Upon his arrival he learns that his estranged father, who has Alzheimer’s, is a murder suspect in her death. The kicker? His father was also the town judge. And like any good son-who-is-also-an-attorney, he defends his father while looking for the truth.

Downey has a huge task ahead of him: he wants Jack Nicholson to portray the father. Nicholson sounds perfect for the part, but he’s been extremely picky about roles. Picky enough that he’s only acted in three films since 2003. Nevertheless, it’d be great to see Downey and Nicholson acting off each other in a movie.

Robert Downey Jr. is meeting with Jack Nicholson this week. If all goes according to plan, we’ll have one hell of a movie in The Judge.
