Director Ridley Scott is finally making his return to the sci-fi genre with his movie Prometheus. Curiously enough, it’s a prequel to his highly regarded film Alien, but won’t feature the terrifying xenomorph.

Prometheus will stay within the mythology of the prior Alien films, and supposedly deal with the space jockeys that made a brief appearance in the first movie. Not to mention the explorers discovering a clue to the origins of mankind.

That’s as much as we really know, considering that Ridley Scott is being vague with the details. Regardless, he doesn’t have to say much, since the trailer for the movie is now out — and shows how much the aesthetics have in common with Alien.

Then of course there’s the cast consisting of Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba and Logan Marshall-Green.

Prometheus keeps sounding like an exciting movie — and I cannot wait.

The film comes out June 8, 2012.
