Chris Colfer of Glee continues being a busy man. On top of his commitments on the show, writing the pilot episode of The Little Leftover Witch and penning independent film Struck By Lightning that he’ll star in, Colfer has signed a two-book deal with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.

Colfer’s first book entitled The Land of Stories, revolves around Alex and Connor Bailey, twins who go through adventures that mixes fairytales with the modern world.

“When I was 10 years old, I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to write this book, I would jump at the chance. This book has been at the core of my imagination for a long time and I’m excited and nervous to share it.”

Eleven years later and he’s pulling it off. Colfer’s ambition and talent continues to shine — and with praise as well. The senior VP and publisher of Little, Brown Books had this to say:

“Chris is a remarkable talent whose writing combines all the qualities kids love — memorable characters, heart-pounding adventure, in a setting filled with wonder, intrigue and enchantment.”

Targeted for readers between the ages of 8 to 12, The Land of Stories is out summer 2012.
