Detroit Mayor Dave Bing asked people on the internet ideas on how to revive the impoverish city — and what was one of the ideas kicked back his way? A statue of RoboCop. What better way to symbolize revival for Detroit other than its sci-fi hero?

It’s a ridiculous idea overall for Mayor Bing, who replied via Twitter: “There are not any plans to erect a statue to Robocop. Thank you for the suggestion.”

It’d be amazing if Detroit had a RoboCop statue, but Mayor Bing made the right decision. The city has enough on its plate to fix and shouldn’t waste resources on a statue when it could be used to focus on real life problems.

Nevertheless, Detroit should erect a RoboCop statue as a job-well-done when its back on its feet.
