Highlander is the next movie up for a remake — which I’m entirely okay with. A film dealing with immortals should also refuse to die. But there’s one thing that’s leaving me feeling pessimistic about the remake, and it’s the man who’s in talks to star.

It seems like ever since X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds just can’t help himself from swinging a sword around on set. We should have seen it coming with Reynolds witnessing Wesley Snipes’ swordplay in Blade: Trinity, coming into his own in the aforementioned movie, and into the sword constructs in Green Lantern. So it’s only natural that he would eye Highlander next.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the man’s acting. He does have a lot of charisma on the big screen. And he’s such a perfect fit for Deadpool (make the movie happen, Fox), but in Highlander? Not so much.

Now if anyone should star in Highlander, it should be Chris Hemsworth.
