  • Disney Plans Tron: Uprising Animated Series

Disney recently planned an animated Tron series that is scheduled for release in the summer of 2012. Having it actually happen though, of course hinges on the success of Tron: Legacy. It’s entitled Tron: Uprising.

The series takes place between the original Tron movie and Tron: Legacy. And the surprising part? The show has a strong cast in Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Lance Henricksen, Nate Corddry, and Reginald VelJohnson. Oh wait, the other huge surprise is Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role as Tron.

If that isn’t enough, behind the camera will be Charlie Bean (Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack) attached with Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Lost and Tron: Legacy). Joining them is co-producer of Tron: Legacy Justin Springer.

It’s a hell of a cast and crew. I’d normally not think much of a spin-off series for a film, but with this cast and crew the potential is massive. And let’s face it: Tron: Legacy will be a hit. There won’t be anything stopping Tron: Uprising.

  • Aaron Eckhart Stars in The Expatriate

Written by A.E. Amel and directed by Philipp Stolzl will be the action thriller The Expatriate. In the starring role is actor Aaron Eckhart, who is most notable in The Dark Knight and Thank You for Smoking.

Playing Ben Logan, Eckhart is a former CIA agent who wants a new start with a daughter he has a rocky relationship with. Relocating to Belgium as a security expert for a corporation, he one day finds that his division no longer exists. Ben and his daughter Amy are forced to run when a squad is after them.

It’s great to see Aaron Eckhart in more starring roles. The man has a great stage presence and charisma; as evident in Thank You for Smoking. He’ll fit perfectly in the role of Ben Logan.

  • Martin Sheen in Spider-Man

Joining Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in director Marc Webb’s Spider-Man film is actor Martin Sheen. He’ll be portraying Peter Parker’s beloved Uncle Ben.

For those who don’t know (Who could that be? No, seriously.): Uncle Ben is Peter Parker’s beloved uncle who is more of a father figure. Uncle Ben teaches Peter morals and coins the famous quote, “With great power comes responsibility.”

I keep getting surprised by the casting for the Spider-Man remake, and I can’t help but be stoked for it.

  • Sucker Punch Trailer is Released

Director Zack Snyder’s original film Sucker Punch releases in March, and a new trailer for the fantasy movie has come out. And it’s looking like a fun, really out there movie.

  • The Warrior’s Way Trailer

Starring actor Dong-gun Jang is the film The Warrior’s Way. Joining him are actors Geoffrey Rush, Kate Bosworth, and Danny Huston. It’s directed by Sngmoo Lee.

The premise? An assassin is forced into hiding in a small town in America after refusing a kill. Ninjas soon follow after him.

It looks like a really fun fantasy film; a fantasy film with ninjas and cowboys. No, I didn’t stutter. It opens December 3rd. Ch-ch-check it out!

  • Third Batman Film Gets Title

Director Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film has been given a title: The Dark Knight Rises. It’s underwhelming. The Dark Knight Returns would’ve gotten backlash from comic book fans since Nolan is intent on keeping Batman and Superman in separate movie universes. But there’s other titles that have potential.

Batman fell as a hero in the eyes of the public in the last film. The police no longer collaborate with him, and he’s wanted for murders he didn’t commit. A more relevant choice would’ve been Shadow of the Bat.

Chris Nolan went on to debunk rumors that the Riddler would be in the film. My choice at this point would be Black Mask. For those who don’t know: Black Mask is Roman Sionis, a man born in wealth who burned down his family’s mansion and killing his parents in the process. Years later Sionis became Black Mask due to the anger and humiliation of Bruce Wayne saving and taking over his failing company. As Black Mask, he forms the False Face Society, who gain power in the Gotham underworld.

Who better than Tom Hardy, who recently joined the cast? No, really. Hardy would be excellent in the role of Black Mask.
