Back in November NBC was courting Hugh Laurie to star in Crossbones as the pirate Blackbeard. It would’ve been a match made in heaven. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.
John Malkovich is now cast as Blackbeard, also known as Edward Teach, who leads a rogue nation consisting of thieves and outlaws. Naturally, of course. He is a pirate.
Crossbones will likely debut next season on NBC.
Malkovich is a good fit, but Laurie almost being Blackbeard will always hang over my head at the gallows.
