The Amazing Spider-Man brought to life the smartass Spider-Man that many of us enjoyed in the comics. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone had excellent portrayals of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, with an on screen chemistry that was more than evident.

And to distance itself from Sam Raimi’s trilogy, the reboot is doing its own thing with the villains that Spider-Man must face.  Despite the brief period between Raimi’s version and the reboot, it was a success and it’s moving forward with a sequel.

Joining Garfield and Stone is Shailene Woodley, who will play the familiar Mary Jane Watson — Peter Parker, you player, you.

For villains? Jamie Foxx is apparently in talks with the studio to portray Electro, a character who — you guessed it — controls electricity. If the speculation is true, then it’ll be Electro’s first appearance in a film. To add fuel to the fire, Foxx had some choice words on Twitter:

Spider-Man returns to theaters May 2, 2014.

Before you ask, yes, Marc Webb is back as the director. And I’m glad.
