The ever-charming but imposing actor Dwayne Johnson has been busy with various roles. The latest? He’s locked in to portray Hercules in a current remake. And it’s more than evident that he’s perfect for the part.

The premise is based on Radical Studios’ Hercules: The Thracian Wars. It deals with Hercules and a group of others being tasked by the Thracian king to train his army. At first driven by gold and promise of glory, Hercules comes to realize that he’s fallen from grace and must redeem himself.

Paramount and MGM are co-producing, with Brett Ratner directing.

I’m a little apprehensive about Ratner being the director, but Johnson can make anything gold with charisma and screen presence alone; and that piques my interest. Dwayne Johnson is always fun to watch in movies.
