Just how much more can Andrew Garfield win over comic geeks? Not only is he putting in a sincere effort for The Amazing Spider-Man, but he’s been geeking out hard about another comic book film in a recent interview. And yes, I mean The Avengers.

“I saw it, and I was blown away. And I’m going to see it again this weekend. I have no problem adding to the amount of money it’s making!

[Laughs.] Joss Whedon is a genius, and it’s an incredible cast. I was very, very jealous, and I wanted to jump on the screen and play with them. It killed me that I wasn’t in it, but I understand why, and I’m not insulted. But hey, if Samuel L. Jackson wants to give me a shout, I’m there for the next one!”

Despite Spider-Man being an Avenger in the comics, the character was unable to make an appearance in The Avengers due to the film rights belonging to Sony. And Garfield’s praise and wanting to be in The Avengers is only going to add fuel to the fire for fans wanting Spider-Man in The Avengers 2.

Hopefully Marvel Studios and Sony can work something out? Probably not, but it’s fun to think.
