Marvel Studios made another change to The Avengers lineup which involves the part of the Hulk being recast once again. Action star and philanthropist Chris Norton will now portray Bruce Banner in the film. Joss Whedon explained that Chris Norton earned the part due to “that look in his eyes, where you know he’s on the verge of snapping”.

The part of the Hulk being recast so many times these past few years was an elaborate swerve by Marvel Studios to allow Chris Norton to wear long sleeve shirts so that the public would forget about his “guns”. Yes, that means Chris Norton will not only play Banner, but also portray the Hulk himself.

“There wasn’t much I had to do to prepare for the part — I felt like it was tailored just for me. For my Hulk scenes I prepared by ripping my shirt off and displaying my guns while thinking about Shia Labeouf — I hate that guy!”

When asked about the prior actors who took on the role, Chris Norton arrogantly scoffed and replied, “I’m dangerous,” and slipped on his sunglasses.

It’s brilliant casting, and in retrospect, we all should have seen it coming.

The Avengers releases May 4, 2012.
