Michael Bay recently cast an actor for Transformers: Dark of the Moon who is a very welcomed surprise for old school fans of the series. Yes, that’s right, the actor who voiced Galvatron in the Transformers animated movie in 1986 will make his return to the franchise. Leonard Nimoy will voice Sentinel Prime, the former leader of the Autobots.

Michael Bay paid attention to the scathing reviews of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and intends to bring a better story to the table. He stated that the robots will receive better character development and give an understanding of the struggle between both the Autobots and the Decepticons. Hopefully this also means toning down Optimus Prime from being too aggressive.

Bay was apparently scared to approach Nimoy to take part in the third movie due to the man being married to a family member of Bay, but after finally talking to him, he said Nimoy replied, “I would be honored. I’m glad to be back!”

I’m stoked for Nimoy’s return to the franchise. He made a memorable Galvatron and he’s bound to do the same for Sentinel Prime in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
